Welcome to our Parish!

The Santuario del Santo Cristo Parish is a Catholic Church located at San Juan City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is under the Dominican Province of the Most Holy Rosary. The shrine was built in 1602-1604 and it became a Parish on 1942. Its patron is the Santo Cristo and the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.

"𝑯𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓."

Before the sun rose, our parishioners and the entire congregation commemorated Jesus' resurrection and the glorious encounter between Him and His mother. The "Salubong" of Risen Christ and Mater Dolorosa started in Barangay Sta. Lucia and Batis. The solemn procession were joined by their community and other faithful from nearby areas.

Following the solemn encounter of Jesus and Mary on our church patio, Father Luis Sierra, OP, led the Holy Mass to continue the observance of Jesus' resurrection as well as triumph against transgressions.

May this celebration inspire us to strengthen and deepen our faith in the second coming of Jesus in our lives, even as we receive the sacrament of the Eucharist.

He is Risen! Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his victory over sin. Because of Jesus, we are saved, and because of Jesus, Easter happened. His passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus made all this possible. We must all remember that all of the things in the world are meaningless without Him.

We continue to contemplate the ultimate sacrifice that the Lord has done for us. The faithful of our Dominican community joined together in meditation and singing of hymns during the Office of the Readings. This tradition brings to us readings and hymns for us to meditate upon and spark in our hearts and minds with spiritual guidance.

In this Most Divine Season, we hope and pray for the return of our salvation. May our moments of despair strengthen our faith in Him. Together with our brothers and sisters, we meditate on the Word and sing our hymns as we keep in our hearts His promise.

Yesterday, March 29, Good Friday, our parish organized the Solemn Procession of the Sto. Entierro, a noteworthy occasion in Holy Week that honors the death and burial of Jesus Christ. This procession provides participants with a tangible outlet for their faith, prompting reflection on Christ's suffering and sacrifice and pondering the significance of redemption and salvation. This meaningful experience fosters unity within the community and underscores the fundamental principles of the Catholic faith.

As we walk alongside the Sto. Entierro, in the solemn procession, we are reminded of the profound sacrifice and love embodied in the Passion of Christ. It's a moment of reflection, prayer, and unity as we join together in faith to honor this sacred tradition.

May the solemnity of this procession deepen our connection to the divine and inspire us to live out the values of compassion, forgiveness, and selflessness in our lives.

"Señor Misericordia, Señor"

In commemoration of Jesus' suffering and death on the cross, our parish conducted the Good Friday of the Lord's Passion, led by Fr. Gregory Zhang Wen, O.P., and all of the priests who serve as concelebrants at our church.

The celebration is separated into three parts, namely readings, veneration of the cross, and holy communion, which allows us to praise, remember, and adore our Lord Jesus for redeeming us through his death on the cross.

Fr. Gregory emphasized that the essence of this Easter triduum celebration is a moment of silence, contemplation, and reflection on Jesus' sacrifice in obedience to his Father's will.

May we be prepared and trust in Jesus' resurrection in his triumph against the transgressions we commit in the eyes of the world. Similar to his disciples, we should be vigilant and restrained at every moment of our lives.

As we commemorate the Passion And Death of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Way of the Cross inside the Parish was held. In this way, we can remember how much Jesus loves us by receiving punishments for the sake of mankind and for the defeat of sin. Every station in the Way of the Cross shows the infinite and unconditional love of Jesus for man, even dying on the Cross. Jesus teaches us to love each other, even our enemies. May we learn from Jesus how true and pure His love is for us. May we also love hard, just like Jesus loves us. Amen.

"O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment thine."

During the Vigil adoration on Maundy Thursday, when we accompany Jesus in prayer, it's a profound moment of connection with His journey. Like the Apostles who stayed with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane, we too stand by Him in spirit, offering our presence and prayers.

This act of companionship allows us to reflect on the depth of Jesus's sacrifice and the love He demonstrated for humanity. As we sit with Him in prayer, we contemplate His agony and find solace in His divine presence, strengthening our faith and resolve to follow His teachings.

It's essential for us people of God, to recognize the significance of the Holy Eucharist because within the consecrated host lies the very presence of Jesus Himself. In partaking in this sacred ritual, we recall the promises made and actions taken by Jesus during the Last Supper.

Let us always hold reverence for this blessed sacrament and cherish the opportunity to commune with our Lord. Amen.

Today, March 29, Maundy Thursday, we celebrated the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, which marks the beginning of the Paschal Triduum. On this day, we commemorate the institution of the Eucharist, a special gift for the followers of Jesus.

In the Gospel, Jesus became a servant to the Apostles by washing their feet. Today we are given a command, a Mandatum. As followers of Christ, we are to wash each other’s feet as Jesus did for the Apostles on this day.

In Fr. Alfonso's homily, he pointed out the importance of the priests and who the priests are, for the Eucharist cannot exist if there are no priests. They are the ones who serve the people of God and grant us the most important gift of the Eucharist to this day. They are the ones that allow us to have the most deep connection with God.

Today, may we all celebrate with full hearts this special day. May we all remember the Mandatum that Jesus has given us. In everyday life, we continue to serve one another, be it if you are in a position of power or part of meek and lowly, we are all given the same command.

Yesterday, March 27, Holy Wednesday, our parish organized Kumpisalang Bayan for the entering and preparation of the Paschal Triduum for the Easter Celebration, with all of our church's priests serving as confessors of our sins.

The Kumpisalang Bayan assists us in letting go of our careless and destructive sins, allowing us to emerge rejuvenated and ready to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the central event of our faith.

May our repentance and seeking God's forgiveness in the sacrament of reconciliation become a spring in our hearts, preparing us for Jesus' resurrection and sharing in his triumph against evil.

Prayer is a way for us to communicate with God, where we express our feelings and thoughts, including adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication (ACTS). It holds significant importance in the Christian tradition.

On the evening of Holy Tuesday, March 26, our parish gathered for Evening Prayer, with the participation of our valued parishioners. Together, in a spirit of unity, we engaged in collective prayer.

As we journey through this Holy Week, let's be mindful of the importance of prayer. It strengthens our connection with God and allows us to feel His presence in our lives. Amen.
