Christmas 2016 Message from our Parish Priest, Fr. Prol, OP

Posted on Jan 01 , 2017 in Parish Priests Message

Brothers and sisters,

During the Jubilee of Mercy, we were reminded one thousand times that the saving graciousness and compassion of God shine forth from the human face of Jesus. May the newly born Savior give us the strength to live as brothers and sisters, loving and caring for one another, experiencing the joy and peace that only God can give.

In the name of the Dominican Fathers, entrusted with the spiritual care of this Santuario, I wish you a blessed Christmas!

Jesus C. Prol, OP

Lenten Message from Fr. Prol O.P.

Lenten Message from Fr. Prol O.P.

We start the holy time of Lent.

What is Lenten Season? As the Gospel of the day tells us: it is

  • a time to open ourselves to God through prayer;
  • a time to think more about others than ourselves and to extend to the less fortunate thematerial help we can;
  • a time to control our instincts through fast and abstinence.

Following the advice Our Lord gives in the gospel, we are to do it without noise.

  • when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing…
  • pray to your Father in secret…
  • hide the fact that you are fasting…

Thank You for All Your Help in the Evacuees’ Relief Efforts

Thank You for All Your Help in the Evacuees’ Relief Efforts

Dear parishioners,

In the name of the Dominican Fathers I would like to thank you publicly for the help extended to the evacuees during the three days they stayed, night and day, in our church. The first day they were around 600 and the second more than one thousand

As you know, we could not celebrate Mass during those days, but the implication of the Mass was real and visible. There was a lot of sharing: food, water, and clothing. There was not distinction between parishioners and no-parishioners, not even of religion. God’s house was open to all! We even saw dogs and birds, a resemblance of Noah’s Ark, with the difference that here there were more people than animals. .

Parish Website Launched

Parish Website Launched

On July 1, the Parish will officially launch its Website. The Ministry on Communication, of young parishioners, to whom and I am very much thankful and indebted, has tirelessly worked to come out with this project.

Pope Benedict XVI reminds us: “The new technologies are not only changing the way we communicate, but communication itself, so much so that it could be said that we are living through a period of vast cultural transformation. This means of spreading information and knowledge is giving birth to a new way of learning and thinking, with unprecedented opportunities for establishing relationships and building fellowship. Believers who bear witness to their most profound convictions greatly help prevent the web from becoming an instrument which depersonalizes people, attempts to manipulate them emotionally or allows those who are powerful to monopolize the opinion of others.”
